S.M.I.L.E. Recipe Book
In the summer of 2009, a local wellness and nutritional counselor contacted me to brand a new program called S.M.I.L.E. as well as photograph and design a recipe book she wrote.
The logo was designed to represent five major components in the healing program as well as give the feeling of connecting to oneself and the earth. One of the main goals of the program is to reestablish a connection to the food one consumes via mindful eating.
In creating the recipe book, we were launched together into a journey of long Saturdays where she would cook and I would photograph the delicious food. Highlighted below are some of my favorite shots from the recipes that we photographed. 60 of them made it into the final recipe book. The package consists of two parts, a guidebook on how to reclaim one’s connection to the healthful food he or she eats and recipe cards, laminated for durability and held together with a ring for easy removal.
The entire process was wonderful and my client changed my life and how I approach my own nutritional lifestyle. The book, published in 2010, can be purchased on the Healing Paths website: http://www.healingpathsva.com/Restorative_Recipes_1XLP.html. It makes a great gift!
Charlottesville Ballet Branding and Photography
I met Sara Jansen and Emily Mott while we were all dancing at the Richmond Ballet as trainees. Sara and Emily co-direct the Charlottesville Ballet and recently opened the Charlottesville Ballet Academy. They contacted me to give them an updated, elegant look to celebrate the new school. Incorporated into the mark is movement, pointe shoe ribbons, and the initials of the company. It serves as the unifying mark between the professional company and the academy.
Before designing their logo and stationary, I enjoyed photographing many of their performances in Charlottesville, shown below.

Photohispana Group Shots
There’s an awesome group in DC called Photohispana. I’ve been having fun working with them for a few months now. It is a collaboration between models, photographers, costume designers, and makeup artists getting together to create art.
VCU Dance “Pieces”
I had the honor of photographing the VCU 2010 Dance graduates and designing the collateral for their last show at their school.

Illuministas – RVA Magazine Fashion Shoot
I had the pleasure of art directing, photographing, and editing this full fashion spread for RVA Magazine. It was a fun experience to gather the clothes and accessories from across the country, let alone gather all the lamps for this shoot.

Sunlit Ballerinas
Some of my favorite memories in college took place at the Richmond Ballet.

I’ve been working on photography for a recipe book, take a look at the progress!
