The logo was designed to represent five major components in the healing program as well as give the feeling of connecting to oneself and the earth. One of the main goals of the program is to reestablish a connection to the food one consumes via mindful eating.

In creating the recipe book, we were launched together into a journey of long Saturdays where she would cook and I would photograph the delicious food. Highlighted below are some of my favorite shots from the recipes that we photographed. 60 of them made it into the final recipe book. The package consists of two parts, a guidebook on how to reclaim one’s connection to the healthful food he or she eats and recipe cards, laminated for durability and held together with a ring for easy removal.

The entire process was wonderful and my client changed my life and how I approach my own nutritional lifestyle. The book, published in 2010, can be purchased on the Healing Paths website: http://www.healingpathsva.com/Restorative_Recipes_1XLP.html. It makes a great gift!

Every year hundreds of Meals On Wheels programs around the nation gather to learn from each other, share ideas, and work together towards ending senior hunger. The 2010 conference was held in Atlanta, Georgia, so it was only fitting that summery peaches conferencing together become the visual theme for the three day event. Crisp, light typography was paired with plenty of white space and my own photography to create sophisticated collateral.

Before designing their logo and stationary, I enjoyed photographing many of their performances in Charlottesville, shown below.

I had fun not using Photoshop in these posters. Everything was made by hand, that is my car, and the grocery list is still on my fridge! Thankfully though, my friend’s tub has been cleaned since then.

All the writing, design, and photography are my own.

I researched the victim’s lives and find out a memorable trait or quirk that could be illustrated and remembered. Delving into folk art, I utilized textured, colored papers that were cut or torn to create the images. Each postcard honors the beautiful life of one of the victims in hope to bring a smile to those who loved them.

This t-shirt design was for one of the biggest fund-raiser they hold every year. The Challenge Walk is a two to three day event where they walk thirty to fifty miles around D.C. and end up at the Capitol. It is fun, empowering, and helps find a cure! We created the design in three colors: blue for volunteers, red for people with MS, and white for staff.

The casing closes with covered magnetic snaps, and the interior has a quadruple accordion fold with typography cut out so that the inside may be viewed.

This piece was featured in the Juried Graphic Design Show at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2009.

I art directed and edited this film, the filming was done by Jelise Chung, Mike Garrett, and David Benson. Choreography is by Cynthia Donavin Rudorfer and the music is from Prokofiev’s ballet Cinderella.
